How should I use my Coolcore horse rug?

The Coolaid horse rug with Coolcore technology is unlike many rugs that have just one purpose. The Coolaid rug can be used in different applications wet or dry throughout the year.

We recommend using the rug as follows:-

When Travelling or standing on the lorry – the Cooling rug is ideal for travelling to and from shows and for long periods of time between classes – the rug keeps your horse cool and regulates their body temperature.

In the Stable – Use in temporary stables at a show or use in the stable at home – if it’s hot it will reduce their core temperature by up to 30%.

Between Classes – Throw the rug over your horse between classes – the immediate transportation of moisture across your horses coat will cool them and reduce their temperature within minutes before you go in the ring and with it’s 30+ UPF will also protect them from the sun.

After your class/competition – whatever your discipline, there is no need for excessive washing/ scraping. When wet, the moisture transportation in the coolaid rug brings immediate cooling and reduction of your horses temperature by up to 30%

After bathing or caught in rain – the Coolaid rug enhances evaporation by pulling water from your horses’ coat and moving the moisture across the fabric for faster drying.

After Winter Exercise or competition – the evaporation/wicking functionality ensures sweat is pulled from your horse’s coat to speed drying and once again helps them to regulate their temperature.

The technology sits within the weave of the fabric – it uses no chemicals so the product lasts the life of the material. You simply wet the rug, wring out the excess water give it a good shake to activate the cooling and put it on your horse. The material is patented and has won awards for its cooling, evaporating and thermoregulating properties since 2015. It has outperformed 3 competing technologies and 7 competitors. All tests were carried out by the Hohenstein Institute, an international research and testing company that provides neutral testing, certification and development of textiles and textile-related products.

If you are travelling any distance on a lorry when it is extremely hot, we would recommend checking your horse. Airflow helps to keep the rug cool but it is made of ultra-thin material so it will dry much quicker on a hot day. It is important to keep it wet and to ensure that you activate the fibres correctly by shaking the material after you have squeezed out the excess water. If you are on a long journey take a spritzing type spray bottle and just re-wet the material. This ensures your horse arrives cool and relaxed

If you are using the rug dry you simply put it on as you would any other rug and watch it pull the sweat or water from your horses’ coat.

We hope this helps explain a little more about this award-winning technology incorporated all our products.
